Special Olympics Fundraising Benefit
The event has raised money, both by donations by Plum Creek Timber Company on behalf of the runners, and by the runners themselves, since 1986. Youth athletes of the Special Olympics turn out every year to staff a complimentary aid station on the dam, the last aid before the finish.
Between 1986 and 2009, $29,915 was raised.
